This module will consider some of these frameworks, whilst the executive summary will focus on the three main regimes. This interaction provides an overview of the financial regulation framework, both present and proposed, in the United Kingdom (UK); the European Union (EU); and the United States of America (US).

Whilst reviewing the slideshow it should be appreciated that discussion about US regulatory reform is still taking place on Capitol Hill. The change of government in the UK will affect how UK regulatory reform will proceed, especialyy in relation to the roles of the FSA and the Bank of England. The EU position may be modified as discussions on reform take place between the US, UK and the EU. The eurozone crisis will influence the outcome of these discussions.

The US reform Bill passed by the US Senate on 20 May now has to be consolidated with the similar bill previously passed by the House.
